Unlike our last VIP drop of Ice Water Hash Jam, the latest VIP referred to as "Live Rosin Jam," looks absolutely identical to a jar of Live Resin BHO, but don't be confused. We steer as clear as possible away from solvent-based extracts and distillates (and recommend you do the same), which are the lowest quality products in the industry. Utilizing a few additional steps and some super secret technology we're proud to deliver our take on a Live Rosin Sauce or Jam.
"When the sauce is good, it's really good"
After the ice water wash and the rosin press, we're left with a fresh press style of live rosin that is translucent and completely dependent upon cold temperatures to preserve its appearance. We take the fresh press and allow it to cure overnight before whipping the Fresh Press rosin into a Live Rosin Badder that is our norm. Once we have our traditional cold-cure Rosin aka Rosin Badder, a few additional touches are necessary to find the jam.
Solventless Diamonds
Before proceeding further, it is possible to achieve THCa diamonds with solventless techniques alone. This is not what we are doing. The solventless diamond technique uses high heat on the rosin press, causing all terpenes and cannabinoids to drip while retaining a hardened chunk of thc that can be cut into smaller "diamond" pieces. A terp sauce is usually reintroduced at the end. Not an ideal product and truly no different than the THCa crystals achieved with chemical solvents and distillation (minus a terp sauce). Our rosin sauce is never seperated like this and everything remains in tact throughout the process.
Jar Techy-Poo
Our version of Live Rosin Jam is normally referred to as jar-tech. Having achieved our usual live rosin badder, it's jarred and placed in the oven. The live rosin is heated to a certain temperature liquefying the rosin. This simple heating and cooling process, done precisely, causes diamonds and crystals to grow. Nothing is ever separated or reintroduced, as the very same live rosin badder on our menu turns to a crystalline type material identical to a Live Resin BHO. Again, do not be confused, our Live Rosin Jam uses nothing other than heat, pressure, and agitation to create this gorgeous Live Rosin Sauce or Jam.
The exact details and specifics of the process remain proprietary and each maker has his or her secrets, styles, and take on the Jar Tech. Almost any of our rosin badder flavors could be turned into sauce, however it's quite rare that a sauce retains its flavor and hits the way our Gak Nanna Jam does. Hence the saying: "When the sauce is good, it's really good" and this batch hit on all cylinders.
Quick Notes
STORAGE:
One idea and practicality of doing our Live Rosin Badder, (aka cold-cure) as a Jam or Sauce, makes refrigeration pretty much unnecessary and since the sauce is sure to shift during travel, leave it out and let it settle. She's good to go at room temp. until she's finished, but as usual refrigeration never hurts.
DABBING
Dab as normal. In fact, you may even be able to raise your dabbing temps slightly as the consistency and diamonds seem to allow it. When dialed in, there's a POP of fruity flavor right from the jump. The Jam has been my go to as well for the last week as I explore more about it myself. We try to stay right around 550F using the Terpometer, but can go in closer to 600F with the Jam).
this is some A++ writing and a very informal read for the people wanting some more info on your rosins and processes!
As a hobbyist home presser with just beginner experience so far this is great to learn, have always been trying to figure out how to manipulate consistency of the final product, there are many different knobs to be dialed in I am realizing.
I try to get any jam QE puts out tbh. There's a premium but every one i've tried has been worth it. I don't have a refined palate but it doesn't matter with these jams, the terps always scream. Compared to cold cure i use a little more product and about +20 degrees above my normal for live rosin jam and at -20 degrees below normal for the ice water hash jam. Potency is lights out!!
Great information!
